Yelitza proudly joined the fire department on June 7, 2004. She had such dedication to her job, such compassion, and such a love of what she did, that it didn’t seem like work to her.
She was assigned to Station 10 in Manhattan, one of the busiest in New York City. Yelitza bravely and without any hesitation worked through the worst of the pandemic without regard for her own life. She was a true fighter, who served the department for 18 years and even after being diagnosed with cancer, she continued to work, until she physically wasn’t able to.
Yelitza is survived by her three children, daughters Daineen, Hannah, and son Theodor, plus other family members and friends who love her so much.
