Doug Gertz

EMT
FDNY EMS
Longpond, PA
Age: 55
End of Service: 06/16/2020
Circumstances: Heart Attack

Doug began working for the NYC Health & Hospital Corporation on June 16, 1995, as an EMT just prior to the merger of EMS into the FDNY, spending the next 25 years taking care of the residents and visitors to the City of NY. He was a lot of fun to work with, always with a smile on his face. The type of partner who would have your back no matter what the situation, so neither of you would get into trouble.

Doug was a first responder to ground zero during and after the terrorist attacks on the WTC, spending many months down there during the rescue and recovery phase.
Doug is survived by his son Jared and fiancé Allana plus many families and friends who loved him dearly.
