Allen Mandeen

Paramedic and CRNA
Sedgwick County EMS
Wichita, KS
Age: 55
End of Service: 05/26/2018
Circumstances: Mental Health Complications

Allen worked with the Sedgwick County Fire Dept. Kansas in the late 1980s. He became an EMT and then a Lieutenant/Paramedic during the 1990s. He was also an EMT instructor through Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS for several years. He made learning fun for the EMT students but also required precision and accuracy back in the “paper ticket” days.

During his tenure with EMS, it was said that he never liked watching SNL (Saturday Night Live) on shift as he would always get a call within three minutes of turning it on. Allen was known as a “muscle car” guy and sold cars while obtaining his RN in 1999.

In February 2009, Allen became a Nurse Anesthetist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Wanda Mandeen. Survivors include children, Ashly (Chase) Mandeen; Taylor Mandeen, and Victoria Mandeen; sister, Karen Hauschild; 2 grandchildren; and girlfriend, Christina Deslippe and her daughter, Annabel.
