Colorado is known as a world-class cycling destination. From the flat lands to the mountains, Colorado offers riding for people of all abilities. The Colorado Route of The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride offers the breath-taking scenery of the rugged Rockies while climbing Loveland Pass from Frisco to Idaho Springs and traverses the Front Range with classic cycling from Fort Collins to Littleton. You will get to enjoy views of multiple 14ers, Colorado’s highest peaks, while cycling your way through the heart of the Rockies. With classic hill climbs, scenic backcountry roads, and cultural landmarks the Colorado ride will offer a unique experience for everyone. These locations include Horsetooth Reservoir, Carter Lake, Loveland Pass, and a tour of the world-famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre to name a few!
The 2017 Route will feature recently enhanced route options and more robust SAG support. Colorado is home to many professional cyclists, elite level athletes, and the U.S. Olympic Complex because its elevations and topography make it a renowned proving ground. We encourage anyone to come and test their mettle while experiencing some of the finest cycling available.
While Colorado offers incredible cycling, the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride mission to “memorialize and celebrate the lives of those who serve every day, those who have become sick or injured while performing their duties, and those who have died in the line of duty” will remain the primary focus. We will remember our fallen and their families while seeking to bring more awareness to the EMS profession. The first day will include a memorial service to start the ride in Fort Collins. Our third day will begin at an air medical helicopter crash site to commemorate a crew that paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Colorado Route will conclude the afternoon before the National Air Medical Memorial ceremony, to be held the following morning. During these times of reflection and focus for our fallen brothers and sisters, the ride will be organized to provide a parade format. This will allow all of the participants, regardless of ability, to build comradery and share the experience together.
